Harvey Elliott returns from horror injury to score ‘top class’ first-ever Liverpool goal as Messi-esque 18-year-old stars alongside new signing Luis Diaz in FA Cup win over Cardiff

Harvey Elliott returned from a horrendous five-month injury to score his first-ever Liverpool goal in sublime fashion during a 3-1 FA Cup win over Cardiff.
The 18-year-old signalled his comeback in perfect fashion after entering the pitch alongside new signing Luis Diaz to rapturous applause.
Elliott ended the game in the 76th minute with his first ever goal for the Reds, collecting an Andy Robertson cross inside the box and firing home beautifully.
marvelbet369.commentator Micky Gray was already full of praise for the youngster, even before he found the net.
"He's certainly not short of confidence is Harvey Elliott," Gray said. "It’s great to see him back out there. There was talk of him not playing for the whole of this season.
“Just to get him out there and the feel of first team football again.
“Such a confident player. He’s got a wonderful left foot, that low centre of gravity. He’s kind of [Lionel] Messi-esque in the way he loves to run at defenders. He’s great to watch."
The goal came with Liverpool already two up, but that didn't tell the full story as Cardiff were unlucky not to have a penalty and an extra man beforehand.
Ibrahima Konate appeared to take down Mark Harris in the box early on, before Reds goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher only picked up a yellow after being beaten to a ball he attempted to clear.
However, Liverpool took control in the second period, with Diogo Jota scoring yet another header from a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross, before Takumi Minamino fired home.
Minamino, who is quickly becoming a cup specialist for the Reds, had new teammate Diaz to thank, with the £37million former Porto forward winning the ball back and laying it on a plate via a touch from Jota.
Elliott, though, stole the show from the Colombian international, with a touch and volley that he may struggle to beat, in what looks set to become a long and memorable Liverpool career.
Cardiff did have their moment of celebration late on Rubin Colwill gave the traveling support a moment of joy with a late consolation, but the game was over once Liverpool woke up from their first half daze.
The Reds have been drawn Norwich in the fifth round of the cup, and remain in all four competitions this season with Groves saying: “Liverpool’s squad looks very, very healthy.”
