The Premier League should hold a NBA style 'All-Star Weekend' where English football's best players join forces and play together.

That's according to former striker Gabby Agbonlahor who, after watching the Super Bowl and American sports, believes the beautiful thing could learn a thing or two from our friends across the pond.

Gabby is probably not alone in his desire to see a Premier League XI take on other All-Star teams.

The former Aston Villa captain has two proposals - a World All-Stars vs European All-Stars game, with the teams made up from players in the Premier League.

Or, a Premier League All-Stars team that could face an All-Star XI from another top division from Europe or further afield.

The NBA host a similar 'All-Star' event, where the starting line-ups for each squad are selected by a combination of fan, player, and media voting.

The players leading the vote for each conference are designated as team captains and can choose from the pool of All-Star reserves to form their squads.

The teams also play for a charity of their choice.

The game could see the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Mohamed Salah, and Kevin De Bruyne all play alongside each other - but talkSPORT host and former Manchester United striker Alan Brazil isn't convinced.

“Would you never like to see an All-Star weekend of football? All the best players in the Premier League played in a match together,” Agbonlahor asked Brazil on talkSPORT Breakfast.

After his co-host responded with a firm ‘no’, the ex-Premier League striker added: “I think it would be a good idea. You’d maybe have a World All Stars team against the European All-Stars team.

"I think it’d be good. Good entertainment.”

Brazil was still unsure but, without wanting to give up on the idea, Agbonlahor had another plan up his sleeve.

He said: “What about the best 25 players from the Premier League play against the best 25 players from another league?

“Maybe the Bundesliga or Serie A and the money generated goes to charity - I think it’d be a good idea.”

Major League Soccer also have an All-Star game, where the best players from the division take on teams from across Europe.

They have faced the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus in recent years.

A Premier League exhibition match could be a viable option for the English top flight, which is already established as one of the most successful and profitable competitions in the sporting world.

But, would the players, managers or even the clubs sign up?

Is this the all-star Premier League XI the team you'd pick to take on the world's best?
