Harry Kane ‘can do things Erling Haaland can’t’ – but Tottenham star still behind Robert Lewandowski as Ally McCoist names Bayern Munich striker as world’s best

Sensational performances from Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski in recent days have got talkSPORT’s pundits asking – who is the best striker in world football right now?
Tottenham’s Kane is reminding everyone that class is permanent after a slow start to the season, netting five times in his last four Premier League games, including a couple of masterclasses against Manchester City and Everton.
But Bayern Munich’s Lewandowski is unrelentingly brilliant.
The 33-year-old landed his latest record in the 7-1 victory over RB Salzburg on Tuesday, netting the earliest hat-trick in the history of the Champions League with three goals in 23 minutes.
Remarkably, Lewandowski already has 40 goals in all competitions this campaign, and it’s not even April.
Kane also finds himself behind Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland when it comes to goals this season, despite the Norwegian missing a big chunk of the season through injury.
Haaland has 56 goals in 57 Bundesliga matches since joining the German giants and many already rank the 21-year-old among the best strikers in world football.
For now, though, Jamie O’Hara and Darren Ambrose believe Kane has the edge, given his game is about far more than just finding the net.
Ex-Spurs midfielder O’Hara told talkSPORT: “For me, Harry Kane has to be the best striker in the world on current form.
“He’s the best No. 9 and the best No. 10!”
“There are some things that Kane can do and Haaland can’t," added former Newcastle star Ambrose added:
“Turning on a sixpence, putting Heung-Min Son through, switching play.
“I don’t think there’s anything Haaland can do that Kane can’t.”
But for legendary Scotland striker Ally McCoist, Lewandowski reigns supreme over Haaland and Kane.
The Rangers icon accepts that Kane might boast the more rounded game, but insists a striker should be judged on goals.
McCoist told talkSPORT: “I’ve got to tell you, I think Lewandowski is the best centre-forward on the planet right now.
“I’d take him over Kane – and I love Kane.
“Is Kane better at dropping off, linking up and making passing? Yes, I think he is.
“But we’re talking about a centre-forward here. We’re talking about goals.
“Kane is the best in this country, by a considerable distance, but Lewandowski is just unbelievable.
“His record is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.”
