The international break is a time when Premier League football fans are forced to endure a two-week spell without seeing their team in action.

While some relish the chance to watch England play on the global stage, others are left bored by the lack of top-level football available to them.

, though, is something those supporters should be considering if they next to get the fix of football in the flesh.

It was started as a social media experiment back in 2010 by founder James Doe.

Since then it has turned in to a huge platform for non-league clubs to showcase what they are about, while welcoming bumper crowds to their matches due to the lack of match action further up the pyramid.

This year it takes place on Saturday, March 26 and Doe told talkSPORT how the idea came about, saying:

“I followed QPR and my local non-league team Harrow since the 80s and so I did have a bit of a background in both, but when I went away to university I lost touch with my non-league club," he admitted.

“I went to watch QPR in a pre-season game in Tavistock and it was obvious how big a day it was for Tavistock despite the fact it was just a friendly. There were adverts all over town, on the sides of buses and I went down, the ground was packed to the rafters and it was clear that the money would really help them for the season.

“I then went to watch Harrow a week or two later and they were doing a fundraiser for floodlight bulbs which I thought was strange for a club that were playing at a fairly senior level. I thought it would be a routine cost, but it wasn’t.

“It wasn’t long after the financial crash of 2008 and it was evident that clubs were struggling and that crowds were dwindling.

“I had this eureka moment where I realised there was an international break coming up and England weren’t playing on the day itself, and so I thought there were fans who would be hanging around and we really enjoyed our trips to non-league and so I thought that fans of Premier League clubs might also enjoy watching football, even if it wasn’t their team.

“I set up an event on Facebook and sent it to a few friends for a laugh and it sort of went viral, meaning that within six weeks I had a national event on my hands!”

With billionaire owners and state-owned clubs now dominating football at the highest level, it's easy to forget that the sport still exists in local and regional communities.

It's not Non League Day without seeing a dog at a match!

It's not Non League Day without seeing a dog at a match!

The cost of attending a Premier League match has grown astronomically in recent years due to the global audience that it attracts, but with , supporters can find a non-league match that's local to them for a fraction of the price.

Doe explained: "Non League Day is primarily a showcase to show that these clubs exist, showcase that the standard of football is probably a lot higher than they think and shows how accessible and affordable football at that level is.

“It’s the entry fee, the price of food and drink, the fact you can get close to the action and talk to the players afterwards, not to mention the financial boost for the club themselves.

“Every pound makes a difference at this level, so while only 10 extra people might show up, that’s 10 people who might not have been there and that could pay for the referee.

“A relatively small amount of money goes a long way at non-league level and so you will make a difference if you go and see your local club play this weekend."

With that in mind, marvelbet369.com has pulled together a list of non-league fixtures being played within a close proximity to each of the 20 Premier League club's home grounds.
