Trent Alexander-Arnold. Wow.

That was the reaction of his teammates during Liverpool's 3-1 Champions League win against Benfica on Tuesday night.

A generational talent, the 23-year-old right-back showcased his devastating vision to set up Sadio Mane to make it 2-0 on the night.

His cross field pass picked out Luis Diaz who headed the ball into the forward's path to score.

Not quite an assist, but a pass Thiago Alcantara, Mane and Mohamed Salah were clearly impressed with.

It was a glorious move that was the talk of Twitter during the game.

"The passing range of this man is absolutely ludicrous isn't it really," the official Liverpool account tweeted.

"That's Trent," former Anfield forward Neil Mellor told talkSPORT when asked how good he was on the night, adding the club will need him on his best against Manchester City at the weekend.

Former Liverpool winger Steve McManaman was equally impressed.

"Very sloppy from Benfica, but what a ball from Trent Alexander-Arnold. It was right on the money," he said from the commentary box.

"The header across the box from [Luis] Diaz was brilliant and [Sadio] Mane was onside to tap in. It was a beautiful goal from Liverpool, counter-attacking at its best."

Ibrahima Konate put the visitors ahead on the night and Diaz made it three, but Darwen Nunez's goal makes things tricky.

"We could have scored in the last minute - the fourth one would be nice but we're not in dreamland here," manager Jurgen Klopp said afterwards.

"It's half-time, we know much more about our opponent, they will go for it again."
