Sadio Mane interrupts Luis Diaz interview to hug new Liverpool teammate after Champions League heroics against Benfica

Liverpool sensation Luis Diaz is already a much-loved figure at Anfield, with Sadio Mane interrupting his post-match interview to grab a hug.

The Colombian forward signed from Porto in January for a cool £37.5million, but any fears about his price have immediately been allayed with a succession of lively performances.

After netting three goals in six Premier League games, he proved the shirt fits on the biggest European stage too.

Liverpool found themselves 2-1 up against Benfica in their Champions League quarter-final first leg, with their Portuguese opponents finishing strong.

No need for Jurgen Klopp to worry, though, as his Colombian star crept in behind his opponents to get onto Naby Keita's through ball.

The 25-year-old rounded Odysseas Vlachodimos and netted to give the Reds a two-goal cushion going into the second leg.

Proving how quickly he's settled in at the club, during a post-match interview where Diaz was handed the Player of the Match award, Mane joined him for a warm embrace having been assisted by the Colombian for the Reds' second goal of the game.

And the new boy could go on to have a career at Anfield just like his 112-goal title-winning Senegalese teammate, according to Jason Cundy.

He told the Sports Bar: "Luis Diaz is on a different level. He has come in and he is going to be, from what I have seen so far, as good as Mane has been for Liverpool.

"I don't know if I'm putting him on the same plane as Salah, that's unfair, but what I've seen so far (gasp). That's brilliant business.

And Cundy believes that while Klopp is clearly an incredible manager, he's been aided by some exceptional recruitment

"Liverpool over the years have done [so well]," he cooed.

"Credit [to them] because they have got a brilliant manager but your transfer targets and your recruitment is absolutely crucial and Liverpool are getting a huge amount of it right.

"You get the odd one which doesn't work, every team does, but i have to say, largely, Liverpool's recruitment has been pretty spot on."
