Kalvin Phillips could be set to join Manchester United this summer, with the Leeds United and England star on the club's transfer shortlist as they plan a major overhaul to their squad.

The Red Devils have also been eyeing up West Ham's Declan Rice and Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham and they look to revamp their midfield.

However, whilst it's the Hammers star who sits at the top of United's wish list, they see signing Phillips from their bitter rivals Leeds as the 'most achievable' option, reports claim.

Highly-rated Rice has been heavily linked with a move to the red side of Manchester for some time, but his new £150million price tag could act as a stumbling block in United's pursuit of him.

The Premier League giants face a similar issue when it comes to fellow Three Lions midfielder, Jude Bellingham.

With the departure of star boy Erling Haaland still a real possibility for Dortmund, it's unlikely they will also want to depart with a second talented youngster as well.

Therefore, a move for Phillips from 16th-placed Leeds looks to be the most plausible.

According to , the Premier League giants are 'poised to make a move' for the England international this summer, with the star's incoming switch in agents offering a helping hand.

United's search to boost their midfield comes as a whole host of players are set to be heading for the Old Trafford exit door at the end of the season.

According to , Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata, Tahith Chong and Lee Grant will all definitely be leaving Old Trafford in June when their contracts expire.

Reports also suggest that United's remaining players have been told they won't be able to leave given the number of outgoings, despite six of them wanting a transfer elsewhere.

Therefore, should Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag take over from interim boss Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford, the Dutchman is likely to inherit a number of dissatisfied players.

It is claimed the likes of Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek, Dean Henderson, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe and Eric Bailly are all keen to depart the club, with decisions set to be make over their futures.

It's also understood the Ajax manager has sighted Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves, rated at £100m, as a transfer target.
