Gary Neville gave a hilarious response to Jamie Carragher, who posted a funny video of Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara, which also showed the ex-Manchester United man questioning the signing of the midfielder.

Thiago silenced his early doubters once and for all with arguably his best performance in a Liverpool shirt as he helped them to a 4-0 drubbing of Man United.

The former right-back responded to the Liverpool legend on Twitter, after he posted a video celebrating the Spaniard's performance against the Red Devils.

Almost every one of his passes found a teammate, and even when a Man United player tried to close him down, the former Bayern Munich player often beat them with a bit of skill, or with a quick and incisive pass. He produced 105 passes in the game, with an accuracy of 96 per cent.

The display was exceptional, and after the game, he was deservedly awarded the man-of-the-match award.

Liverpool fans are waxing lyrical about Thiago, including club icon Carragher.

On social media platform Twitter, Carragher posted a video of Thiago's chant which comes from the tune 'Cuba' by the Gibson Brothers.

But before that, there was a small scene where Neville said: "Bayern Munich don't let anybody go that's half decent."

Well that comment certainly hasn't aged well has it?

Neville being Neville though, he was never going to let Carragher have the last laugh.

He found the joke funny, but then added: "One good game against a pub team!"
