‘Where is there a better chance to win titles?’ – Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane sent message over Liverpool futures after Jurgen Klopp signs new contract

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have been sent a message over their futures at Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp committed to the club by signing a new contract.
With the long-term futures of both players unclear, Tony Cascarino has asked the Reds stars, ‘where else will you have a better chance of winning trophies?’
The forward duo are both out of contract at Anfield in 2023 and no closer to extending their stays with the Premier League title challengers.
Many will feel that could change soon, after Klopp committed his future to Liverpool by extending his contract to 2026.
However, Klopp himself admitted that, while his new deal is good news for the club’s transfer plans, it’s unlikely to make a difference over the futures of Salah and Mane.
Talks with Salah have been ongoing for a while, and while both Klopp and the Egyptian star have kept putting the ball in each others’ court, it’s claimed they are no closer to agreeing fresh terms.
The club is said to be more confident with Mane, with talks set to open in the summer.
As it stands, though, Liverpool’s key duo look set to enter the final years of their contracts and begin a year of endless speculation over whether they will stay or go, and where they could end up.
But Cascarino has sent a message to both players, questioning what other club can give them the same success and chances for further glory as Klopp’s Liverpool.
Speaking on the Weekend Sports Breakfast, the talkSPORT host and lifelong Reds supporter said: “My question for Mane, for Salah, for anyone at Liverpool - where do you think you’re going to win things the most, further down the line?
“I would argue it would be under Jurgen Klopp, in the team he has built to make you successful.
“To me, that would be my drive. If you want to go for the biggest move for the most money, well if that’s what drives them…
“But they’re going to make a lot of money whatever they do.
“You want to be in the best place where you’re going to play your best football, and that’s why I think Mane and Salah will be there for the next two years.
“Mane is 30 and Salah will turn 30 soon, so they’ve got two or three years of really top football and, because of their condition, they might be beyond that.”
Premier League 100 club member Darren Bent also wants Salah to stay at Anfield, and says tying him down to a new contract should now be Liverpool’s top priority after securing Klopp’s future.
“I hope Salah stays, because you want to see the best managers and the best players in the Premier League,” the Drivetime host said about the Egyptian King, who was this week named the Football Writers’ Player of the Year.
“The most important thing was they managed to tie down Jurgen Klopp, but now it’s about getting Salah in. You’ve got to tie him down.
“There will be fans out there saying Luis Diaz is on the road to replacing Salah, but you can’t replace Mo Salah right now. You just can’t.”
And why is staying at Liverpool under Klopp such a desirable outcome?
Cascarino says he and rival Man City boss Pep Guardiola are the top two coaches in the game and have taken football ‘to new levels’.
“It’s been an absolute blessing,” said the former Chelsea and Republic or Ireland striker.
“I think Klopp and Guardiola have raised the bar in football levels.
“That’s why other big clubs have suffered, because these two have put the bar higher and now it’s for everyone else to try and catch up.
“These two play a very adventurous game. They attack you. When you see the stats of their games, whether they win or not, you know they’ll dominate possession, they’ll have more chances, they’ll have more corners because of the way they play.
“There’s almost no home advantage against these teams, because they’ll attack you in your own backyard.”
