Jamie Carragher pokes fun at Gary Neville after Manchester United legend’s premature Twitter post as Liverpool reach Champions League final, and sends invitation to NBA icon LeBron James

It's fair to say Jamie Carragher has made the most of Liverpool having a much better season than rivals Manchester United, with punditry sparring partner Gary Neville bearing the brunt of his joy.

The Anfield legend has poked plenty of fun at the United hero with his club enjoying one of its most successful seasons - so much so, he's even asked NBA star LeBron James to get involved in the party.

Neville, who made 602 appearances for United, was the target of a host of social media posts from his fellow pundit as Liverpool advanced to the Champions League final after beating Villarreal on Tuesday night.

The former Red Devil defender pounced on the Reds going down 2-0 in the first-half of the second leg in Spain, posting a video of him smugly sipping on a glass of wine.

Unfortunately for Neville, though, his tweet ended up being rather premature.

Jurgen Klopp's side looked their normal hungry selves and came out of the half-time traps to score three in the second-half, making it 5-2 on aggregate - which played right into Carragher's hands.

The one-club hero posted three tweets following the full time whistle, with one directly replying to Neville's dig from when the Reds were trailing.

"The scene at HT in all households across Manchester and the blue side of Merseyside, the fume will be glorious," he wrote on Twitter.

"Just the tenth Champions League final for Liverpool - what a club!"

Carragher's enjoyment of Liverpool's success as they hunt out the unprecedented quadruple didn't stop there, though.

As the Reds took one step closer to the quad, with just six games to go, basketball legend, Liverpool fan and Reds shareholder LeBron James tweeted to celebrate his side's victory.

Summing up his passion for his favourite football team from across the Atlantic, the LA Lakers superstar said: "PARIS HERE WE COME!!!!!!!"

And, soon enough, the confidence-injected Carragher offered his fellow Reds fan a ticket to the final.

"LeBron, if you want to come to Paris, you can come and join us and the CBS team and you can be my guest," Carragher began.

"I'm pitchside and I want you next to us in Paris. Give us the support that we need to win that seventh European cup - come and join us big man!"

Neville may want to mute, block and maybe even delete Carragher across all social media platforms for the foreseeable...
