Man United ‘the worst ever Premier League top six team’ as Ralf Rangnick’s side confirm lowest point total and most goals conceded

Manchester United ‘have got everything wrong’ with the 4-0 loss to Brighton condemning the club to their worst ever Premier League campaign.
One of the most harrowing afternoons in a season of lows saw the Red Devils hammered away from home against a side they would ordinarily be expected to beat.
Graham Potter’s side eased to a dominant victory with the visitors rarely threatening, ending United’s chances of Champions League football next season.
The result also means Ralf Rangnick’s men have recorded their worst ever Premier League season, only able to finish on a maximum of 61 points this term, three short of their previous record low in 2013/14.
United have also conceded 56 goals, the highest tally in any single campaign, while the number of humiliations have also .
Since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013, United have conceded four or more league goals on 12 different occasions, far quicker than the 810 games that it took Ferguson to reach that mark.
Opinions are rife on what new manager Erik ten Hag needs to fix when he arrives ahead of the new season, but talkSPORT host Tony Cascarino thinks trying to pinpoint a single issue is useless.
He explained: “Man United have got everything wrong, so we can criticise them in many many ways.
“There’s loads of things that are wrong at United, it’s way more than just one thing, it’s lots of things, but one thing that you could add onto it is the transfers, the recruitment and the vast amounts of money that they’ve spent that has led to nowhere.
“What can you say, what can you add to what is a terrible team, you’ve got to break it up, you’ve got to rip it apart, you really have to.”
Despite missing out on a crucial top four finish, United will likely still secure European football next season, but their status as a ‘top six’ side is in doubt.
In fact, Cascarino goes as far as saying they’re the worst team he’s ever seen in England’s top bracket.
He said: “They are the worst team that’s made the top six that I’ve ever seen, they’re going to get the sixth spot, they will get that.
“I can’t think of anyone poorer we’re talking about challenging for the top, forget the top, even Champions League, forget that, they’re not even close to that.
“But if you say even top six, I would easily put them as one of the worst top six teams I’ve ever seen.”
