Gabriel Jesus made an instant impact for Arsenal on his Premier League debut as the Gunners beat Crystal Palace 2-0.

And his predecessor in the No.9 shirt, Alexandre Lacazette, did the same thing while simultaneously making his second debut for Lyon.

The Gunners made an electric start to the 2022/23 campaign, racing into the lead at Crystal Palace with some pulsating football.

Gabriel Martinelli bagged the opening goal but his namesake and Brazilian compatriot, Jesus, stole the show in the first-half.

While he did not manage to get on the scoresheet and faded before being replaced by Eddie Nketiah in the second-half, the £45million striker from Manchester City had Arsenal legend Martin Keown purring with his early display.

"Arsenal are on a different level," Keown said on commentary for talkSPORT. "Jesus has had a really good start to this game, everything he's done has been perfect.

"Arteta will be delighted with Jesus. Some of his movement has been outstanding.

"Guehi is no slouch but he's able to turn him. Both centre-halves know he is on the pitch.

"He's such a handful tonight."

Keown later added: "Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko are on a different level to their Arsenal teammates."

Jesus replaced Lacazette in the No.9 shirt, after the Frenchman followed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out the door by returning to Lyon earlier this summer.

And all parties seem to be happy, with Lacazette bagging a goal and an assist within 22 minutes on his return to Ligue 1 against Ajaccio, inspiring a 2-1 victory.
