Southampton have no plans to sell striker Che Adams despite interest from a number of Premier League sides, talkSPORT understands.

The Scotland international had been a target for Everton, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.

Leeds had also previously expressed their interest in the 26-year-old, with their interest dating back to January 2020, when they saw their efforts to sign him in a £20million deal fall short.

As per , Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl had previously told Adams he is free to leave this summer.

According to the report, the club were willing to allow him to depart St Mary’s after three seasons, with the player no longer considered first choice.

A fee of just £15m had been mooted, who has two years left on his current contract.

However, talkSPORT understands the club has since changed its mind and now have no plans to cash in on the striker.

Adams was an unused substitute on the opening day of the season, as Southampton suffered a 4-1 defeat away to Spurs on Saturday.

Hasenhuttl opted to start with new arrival Joe Aribo, who was signed from Rangers, and Adam Armstrong in attacking roles, instead of the Scotland man.

Adams' lack of action at the weekend has since been addressed by the Saints boss.

“I think we didn’t want to change in the end the two guys up front, Joe [Aribo] and Stuey [Stuart Armstrong],” Hasenhuttl told the

“I think they deserved to play because they had a good pre-season and scored goals. And in the end, Arma [Armstrong] got the chance today to start because he was the most successful striker in pre-season for us. He deserved it I think.”

Asked what Adams must do to win a recall, Hasenhutl added: “I think everybody should step up because this is not enough what we’re doing so far.

“Because I don’t compare this game to when we won here last year, in some moments we have done a better job last season.”
