Casemiro was visibly upset during his farewell ceremony at Real Madrid ahead of his transfer to Manchester United.

The 30-year-old will move to the Premier League side in a £60million deal after nine years at the club.

Casemiro will sign a four-year-deal at Old Trafford and insists the move is not motivated by money.

"Those who think I'm leaving for money is because they don't know me," Casemiro said at the ceremony where his 18 trophies won in Spain were also on display.

"I think there are a few [people] and they don't know me. It's not for money. They're wrong. That's not the case."

Casemiro said he felt the time to move on after winning his fifth Champions League trophy and his mind was not for changing even after a well earned holiday.

"People don't forget the club I'm going to, the biggest team in the world and that can compete with the greatness of Real Madrid, although now it doesn't."

After saying adios, Casemiro will fly to Manchester for his unveiling, and watch his new side take on Liverpool from the stands, a match you can listen to live on talkSPORT at 8pm.

He will also link up with Cristiano Ronaldo again following their time at Real together.

"I haven't spoken to Cristiano, I hope he stays because he's one of the best players of all time," Casemiro added.

Although he will miss the game against Liverpool, he may well play against Southampton on Saturday, also on talkSPORT.

"If I could, I would play today for United against Liverpool. I'm really excited, it's a club with great history, I will have to work hard to make a name for myself because there, I have won nothing yet."

With multiple winners medals to his name in Spain, the Brazil international will hope to replicate that success under manager Erik ten Hag.

"I spoke to my wife just three days ago and my wife said I look like an 18-year-old kid who is super excited about his new project, and I do feel so excited about playing in the Premier League," he said.

"Everything I did [at Real Madrid], I want to do there too. I want to show my fighting spirit, capacity to work hard, professional attitude. I want to work hard every day to show how serious I am about them. I want to win the league there, I know it is an exciting league.

"I am going through one of the best moments of my career. I feel I'm really fit, mentally I feel great, and I want to continue to enjoy my day to day and hopefully I can do that there. I feel like it's a great moment to take this decision."

The next question on fans' mind will be the number he will wear on his back.

At Real Madrid he wore 14, but with Christian Eriksen in possession of that, it is being widely reported that he will wear 18, which previously belonged to Paul Scholes.

It also leaves the no.21 free, a number Frenkie de Jong wears at Barcelona.

According to , Barcelona have arranged a meeting with the Barcelona midfielder's agents in a last-ditch attempt to try and get the player to accept a move to Manchester United.

Chelsea have also been linked with the midfielder, but United remain hopeful the transfer saga will come to an end soon, and they can finally get hold of their man.
