Sean Dyche would be ‘top of the list’ to replace Scott Parker at Bournemouth if Harry Redknapp was making the call.

Parker was axed just four games into the new Premier League season, with his comments about the club's summer recruitment not going down well with the hierarchy.

Former Cherries boss Redknapp thinks the club will already have an idea on their favoured choice to succeed Parker.

He would go for choice, but also warned that whoever takes over will have a near-impossible job to keep them in the top flight.

"They must have somebody in mind,” Redknapp told talkSPORT Breakfast. “Look at Eddie Howe, look at the job he did there. Did Eddie go or was he half pushed?

“If Eddie can go after what he achieved at Bournemouth, then nothing surprises me.

“There’s obviously a breakdown in communication between the two of them.

“Where do they go from there, I don’t know. I’m racking my brains about who is around who they can go for.”

When asked about Dyche, Redknapp said: “He’s a good manager. Good guy, top class.

“If I was going to take somebody, he’d be top of my list.

“I’m a big Bournemouth fan and go every game. Anybody who comes in and keeps them up with that squad will do a miracle, it would be a fantastic achievement.”

Redknapp also admitted he did not see the sacking coming, but said he would have made similar comments to Parker that ultimately got him fired.

He added: “It looks like they are not happy with the statements or the comments he’s made. Obviously they are upset with it and they’ve decided to make a change.

“I didn’t see it coming, certainly four games into the season. Look at the fixtures, I looked at the first four and said if they got a point out of it [that would be good].

“They’ve ended with three points from four games. There’s obviously problems behind the scenes and they’ve decided to make a change.”

Redknapp added: “Back in the day, I’d have dealt with it like he did. I’d have got the sack as well.

“I’d have come out and said ‘we aren’t good enough and unless we get some players, we won’t stay in this league’.

“When I saw him coming out with those comments, I was thinking, now I’m older and wiser, ‘Scotty, those aren’t the things to say’.

“You have to be so careful with what you saw with owners and directors.”
