Thomas Tuchel told Roman Abramovich ‘would have sacked him’ as Chelsea’s transfer business labelled ‘wild’ and Jorginho and Kai Havertz criticised

Thomas Tuchel would have been sacked by if Roman Abramovich was still the Chelsea owner.
That’s the view of former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor as the Blues faltered again in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
Tuchel’s side lost 2-1 to Southampton to make it just seven points from a possible 15 from their opening five games of the season.
It looks as though Chelsea have major problems with their squad they need to address in the final two days of the transfer window, despite already spending £168million.
New owner Todd Boehly looks set to have patience with Tuchel and there was even talk of him getting a new contract.
This is a very different approach from that of Abramovich, who was notoriously short of patience when it came to managers.
And the new ownership is probably the only reason the German is still in his job.
“Thomas Tuchel has got to be under pressure,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT. “Chelsea are used to winning Premier League titles, now they are going to be looking at a fight for top four.
“Arsenal are looking very good, Spurs are looking very good. Chelsea could finish fifth this season.
“That is unacceptable with the amount of money they have spent.
“The previous owner of Chelsea would have sacked him by now for last season’s Premier League finish.
“The amount of points they finished behind Man City and Liverpool and this season looks like it will go the same way.”
Boehly has not been afraid of splashing out in the transfer market this summer and the club are set to sign Wesley Fofana in a £70m deal, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Josko Gvardiol have also been linked.
Agbonlahor admitted he has not been impressed with the signings they have made.
He added: “Last season, I said that Tuchel was lucky to keep his job. Everyone hammered me for it, saying he had won the Champions League, got to finals, but they are boring to watch.
“I watched them against Leeds and watched them last night, they don’t entertain me.
“Jorginho can’t run in midfield anymore, it’s okay being good on the ball, but you need to be able to run in midfield now.
“Havertz looked a shadow of the player he was a couple of years ago. They are relying on Sterling.
“JT [John Terry] is right, they really do miss Reece James on that right-hand side. Cucurella doesn’t look great at £60m when you’ve got Chilwell sitting on the bench.
“For me, Chelsea have got problems. What are they going to do now? Spend another £100m?
“Thomas Tuchel is under massive pressure with the money he has spent.
“Chelsea shouldn’t be looking at top four, they should be looking at Premier League titles like they used to.
“This season they have a great chance of finishing fifth.”
Agbonlahor continued: “Some of their signings have been wild. You look at Cucurella, you’ve got to credit Man City for saying he’s worth £40m. Ben Chilwell is a better player.
“Koulibaly will be a top player in the Premier League, maybe he will take a bit of time to get used to the Premier League.”
