Mauricio Pochettino is not the right person for the now-vacant Chelsea job, insists talkSPORT's Simon Jordan.

The Blues announced the departure of the German, who has been at Stamford Bridge since January 2021, after his side's 1-0 loss away at Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

The defeat marked yet another below-par result in the opening to Chelsea's season, with the Blues unable to put in consistent performances in the Premier League, where they sit in sixth with ten point from six games.

talkSPORT's White and Jordan show went live just after the news was announced on Wednesday morning, and Jim White, Simon Jordan and Danny Murphy immediately gave their views on the decision.

Former Liverpool and Tottenham star Murphy said the Blues' decision to sack the German was a 'knee jerk reaction' given how early it is in the season.

Meanwhile, former Crystal Palace chairman Jordan suggested new owner Todd Boehly must have someone lined up to take Tuchel's place to make such a cut throat decision.

But most notably, the outspoken talkSPORT pundit warned Chelsea that former Spurs manager Pochettino is not the answer, following reports he is in the running for the Stamford Bridge job.

"They’ve obviously got someone lined up, they’ve made a decision," said the White and Jordan host.

"And God forbid I hope it’s not [Mauricio] Pochettino, but it may well be,” he said after scoffing at the possibility of the Argentinian coming in.

The Blues are also being linked with Brighton's Graham Potter - who is current favourite - former Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa, as well as Zinedine Zidane.

And despite Pochettino boasting recent silverware after his time with Paris Saint-Germain after winning the Ligue 1 title last season before his own departure from the French giants, Jordan still believes there are better options out there.

And he pointed to his track record at Spurs to suggest why he shouldn't get the Chelsea job.

"I think if you look at his [Tuchel's] record at PSG and Dortmund, it's far more compelling than Pochettino," he said.

"Look at the comparison of the results he got at PSG in terms of getting them to a Champions League final, they lost. He won two doubles in France, Pochettino got in the door and did nothing but complain and agitate and index himself to jobs.

"Pochettino is a figment of the media's imagination. He did a lot of good work at Tottenham with a very good group of players that had an opportunity to be far more successful.

"They choked in the Champions League final, they choked in the Premier League. I'm not a Pochettino admirer, I think he's a good manager but if you want to be an elite football club Pochettino is not your answer."

When asked who he did think was the answer to Chelsea's management woes, Jordan simply said: "I don't know right now."

Tuchel becomes the second Premier League manager to be sacked after falling to defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in Europe, with former Blues boss Jose Mourinho sacked by Tottenham in 2021 after their Europa League defeat to the Croatian side.
