Curbishley and Wilkins sacked by Fulham

Fulham have sacked technical director Alan Curbishley and assistant head coach Ray Wilkins, as the backroom staff changes continue at Craven Cottage.
It’s been a turbulent few days for the Cottagers, who announced the appointment of former Bayern Munich boss Felix Magarth as their new first-team manager on Friday, which presumably called time on Rene Meulensteen’s stint as head coach after just 75 days in the job.
Magarth is notorious for his rigorous and somewhat brutal attitude to training, and has wasted little time in giving Wilkins and Curbishley, who were only appointed towards the end of December, the boot.
Meanwhile, speculation bizarrely still surrounds the future of Meulensteen, who replaced previously axed boss Martin Jol on December 1, with reports suggesting he remains under contract at the club and could continue his role as head coach alongside Magarth.
Fulham remain rock bottom of the Premier League table, but are only four points away from safety in what is one of the tightest relegation battles the top flight has ever seen, with even tenth-placed Swansea in danger of the drop.
And despite the uncertainty currently shrouding the club, Magarth insists he is confident he can keep guide the Cottagers out of the bottom-three.
''Yeah, I am sure I can [keep Fulham up] because I have done it sometimes before in Germany,'' the new boss told Fulham TV.
''I have taken over clubs in a similar situation to Fulham and I am very confident I can do it once more here in England with Fulham.
''I think 12 games are enough to keep them in the Premier League and we need confidence now. We need spirit and we will start next Saturday at West Brom.
''If the players, the staff and fans will support us 100 per cent and the players give 100 per cent in the next days, I am sure we have the potential to avoid relegation.''
