Liverpool hammered at Napoli but have never begun a Champions League campaign with two defeats while Ajax eye first win over Reds since 1966
Liverpool welcome Ajax to Anfield on Tuesday as they look to avoid losing their first two games of a Champions League campaign for the first time.
The Reds’ were beaten 4-1 by Napoli last time out in what was their joint heaviest loss in the Champions League and they will be hoping to bounce back with a positive result against the Dutch champions.

But if they do lose this week, it will be the first time they have ever been beaten in their opening two games of the competition.
There will be serious concerns that this could occur with Liverpool’s form this season not reaching the heights of previous campaigns.
They sit six points off the top of the Premier League table in seventh after only picking up two wins in their first six games.
To add to the worries, Ajax are unbeaten this season, scoring 21 goals and only conceding three.

While the Reds’ weekend game was postponed, a Mohammed Kudus brace helped Ajax put five past SC Heerenveen in a dominant performance by the Eredivisie leaders.
Alfred Schreuder’s side have now won their last five games without letting a goal in and have scored 16 in the process.
But despite their recent run of form, De Godenzonen will be competing against the odds as they look for their first win against Liverpool since December 1966.

This long winless record has also started to affect them against all English teams with the Amsterdam outfit losing four of their last five Champions League games against Premier League opponents.
Their only point from these games came in an enthralling 4-4 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in 2019.
With Liverpool wanting to continue their streak and Ajax keen to break theirs, it leaves plenty riding on Tuesday’s fixture.
