The Portuguese legend played the full 90 minutes despite a bloodied nose and should be fit to play in his country’s Nations League crunch match.

Portugal vs Spain: Team news

Ronaldo left the pitch bloodied and bruised against Czech Republic but seemed to recover and is expected to start.

After missing the last game through suspension, Man City’s Joao Cancelo will be available for selection.

Although with Diogo Dalot scoring a brace and Mario Rui grabbing an assist last time out, the right back may not be guaranteed to start.

For Spain, Dani Carvajal is expected to return to the line-up after missing out against Switzerland.

Portugal vs Spain: What’s been said?

At the age of 37, Ronaldo is most likely coming to the end of his international career but he seems to expect to still be a part of Fernando Santos’ team in 2024.

He said: “I’m in a national team with a lot of young players with extraordinary futures.

“Diogo (Dalot) often jokes with me: 'Man, you played with everyone; you must be ancient'.

“Obviously, I still want to be a part of it, at the World Cup — and at the Euro as well, I can admit that already.

“I am happy. I confess that I was missing the feeling of receiving a prize!”
