The Salzburg trio Man United, Liverpool and other European giants are reportedly chasing

Salzburg trio Hinteregger, Berisha and Soriano could make big moves this summer

Red Bull Salzburg could be the ideal hunting ground for Premier League clubs this summer. Norweigian midfielder Valon Berisha was linked heavily with Liverpool in January, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Reds return for him in the forthcoming window, while centreback Martin Hinteregger is being touted as Man United’s replacement for Nemanja Vidic. talkSPORT looks at the two players, as well as Salzburg’s prolific goalscorer who could be a useful wildcard signing for a Premier League side…

Name: Martin Hinteregger
Age: 21
Position: Centreback
International appearances: One (Austria)

Despite being only 21, Martin Hinteregger is edging close to making 100 appearances with Salzburg, and it is easy to see the attraction for big clubs like Manchester United. Capable of playing at both left-back and his more natural centre-back position, the defender is comfortable with the ball at his feet, and shot to fame last year when he scored a long distance screamer against Schalke in a pre-season friendly. Hinteregger was handed his senior Austria debut in November, and is expected to move on to bigger things at club level sooner rather than later.

Name: Valon Berisha
Age: 21
Position: Central midfielder
International appearances: 21 (Norway)

Another bright young talent at Salzburg, Norway international Valon Berisha was linked with Liverpool in January after he pulled the strings in a shock defeat of Bayern Munich in a winter friendly. Berisha not only creates goals from the middle of the pitch, but scores them too, with three strikes and nine assists across the league and Europa League this season. Expect to hear more about him if he continues in similar form.

Name: Jonathan Soriano
Age: 28
Position: Striker
International appearances: 4 (Spain U21) / 4 (Catalan national team)

Had things worked out slightly differently Jonathan Soriano would already be at a top club in Europe. The striker scored a ridiculous 32 goals for FC Barcelona’s B team in the 2010/11 Spanish second division, handing them what would have been a play-off place for promotion to La Liga were they eligible, but he had the minor obstacle of Lionel Messi blocking his path from making consistent appearances with Barca’s seniors. Looking to play regularly, he left for Red Bull Salzburg in 2012, but it is evident that he needs a challenge at a much higher level. Last season he managed 29 goals in 36 games with Salzburg, but this season he is blowing those numbers away, notching up 31 strikes in only 27 appearances, including a ridiculous long-range stunner against Ajax which allowed him to complete a brace in the Europa League last 32. Considering there are few natural goalscorers on the market these days, could a Premier League side be tempted to make an offer for the former Barcelona man?

What do you think? Would a Premier League side be wise to take a punt on Jonathan Soriano, and how do highly do you rate Hinteregger and Berisha? Let us know by leaving a comment below…
