Gabby Agbonlahor insists that Steven Gerrard must get at least four points from the next two games against Fulham and Brentford to keep his Aston Villa job.

The Liverpool legend is coming under increasing pressure after a poor start to the season, with Villa winning just two of their opening 10 fixtures in the Premier League.

As a result, Gerrard's side find themselves sitting in the relegation zone with real work to do.

Agbonlahor knows Aston Villa better than most and admits that supporters are already voicing their frustration around the managerial situation and has suggested that any slip-ups against Fulham and Brentford this week could mean curtains for Gerrard.

Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast, the club's record Premier League goalscorer said: “I just look at Villa now and this game for Steven Gerrard, he’s got Fulham tonight and then he’s got Brentford at home. Two massive games.

“After that it’s Newcastle away and then Manchester United at home, so these two games are massive for Steven Gerrard.”

Asked if he’d take three points from the two games, Agbonlahor responded: “I think they need a minimum of four.

“Aston Villa are 17th now, with nine points. Wolves are 18th with nine points so Villa are only in the relegation zone on goal difference.

“If you can’t beat Fulham and Brentford, what chance have you got? You’re in a relegation battle.”

Brazil then asked what would happen if they drew both games, to which Agbonlahor said: “Then I think he’s gone.

“Honestly, the Villa fans, they’ve gone.

“Results against Fulham and Brentford will be expected and will give him more time but to draw those two games, the atmosphere at Villa Park on Sunday after that game will be toxic.”
