Michael Beale TURNS DOWN Wolves job with ex-Aston Villa assistant set to stay with Championship table-topping QPR
Michael Beale has turned down the chance to become Wolves manager, talkSPORT understands.
The Queens Park Rangers boss had emerged as the Premier League club's number one choice to succeed Bruno Lage.
Wolves formally approached the Hoops on Thursday morning for permission to speak for Beale, who is understood to have a release clause in his contract if a Premier League club come calling.
But Beale has now taken the decision to stay put at Loftus Road.
The 42-year-old only took charge of the Championship club in June having excelled as an assistant manager under Steven Gerrard.
After shining for both Rangers and Aston Villa, Beale headed to QPR in order to fulfill his own managerial ambitions.
Since then, things have certainly gone smoothly, with a 3-0 victory over Cardiff City on Wednesday sending them top of the Championship.
With news that he'll be staying put, fans of QPR will be delighted and hoping that he can continue what he's started in west London.
Meanwhile for Wolves, it's back the drawing board as they search for a replacement for Bruno Lage who was sacked two and a half weeks ago.
Julen Lopetegui was in talks over the job last month but turned it down for personal reasons, while former boss Nuno Espirito Santo and Peter Bosz have also been linked.
