Royle: Moyes inherited a Man United squad on the decline

Former Man City and Everton manager Joe Royle claims David Moyes inherited a Manchester United side on the decline.

Speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show about the ex-Toffees chief, he said: "He’s a strong manager who will make it very clear what he wants, even to the top stars.

"The problem at Man United is that the team he inherited, despite being champions last season, aren't at their peak.

"It's not all doom and gloom for Man United though. They’re sixth in the league at the moment and still in the Champions League.

"To judge him on this team is very harsh, you must wait until the end of next season, then you’ll see a David Moyes team."
