Arsenal to hold talks to sign Orlando City winger Facundo Torres over possible January transfer to provide competition for Bukayo Saka

Arsenal will reportedly hold talks with Facundo Torres' agent over a move to sign the Orlando City winger.

It has been claimed that the Gunners are eyeing up a January swoop for the 22-year-old following his impressive first season in the MLS.

The Uruguay international chipped in with 13 goals and ten assists for Orlando where he helped Oscar Pareja's men win the US Open Cup.

Mikel Arteta's side are said to have been tracking the forward since he scored against them in Arsenal's 3-1 pre-season victory in July.

Torres has been identified to provide competition for Bukayo Saka on the right flank, with the 21-year-old in danger of being overplayed.

Arsenal scout Toni Lima has reportedly watched Torres closely in action over the last few months.

Lima, who specialises in South American talent, is credited as being one of the first scouts to spot Neymar and Philippe Coutinho.

And according to , he has now set up a meeting with technical director Edu and Torres' agent Edgardo Lasalvia.

That is due to take place this weekend with discussions to sign the ex-Penarol ace at a very early stage.

It has been said though that Torres is very keen to join the current Premier League table-toppers after the World Cup.

Orlando technical director Ricardo Moreira recently lauded Torres where he said how he is destined to reach the top.

He told : "We see [Facundo’s] growth into the league, his understanding of the league, his understanding of the physicality and speed required has been amazing.

“He's a guy where all I have to say is that the sky is the limit.

"Kudos to the Wilf family [club owners], who helped us doing such an investment because I think it's all paying off today, tonight.

"There's more to come from him and I hope we can stay with Facundo as long as we can.”

Along with Torres, Arsenal have also been linked with the likes of Mykhaylo Mudryk, Pedro Neto and Moussa Diaby.
