Arsenal fan Laura Woods praises Tottenham for Champions League result but former Chelsea player Jason Cundy stuns Jamie O’Hara by refusing to give credit for reaching knockout stage after Marseille win

Tottenham booked their place in the Champions League last-16 in dramatic fashion to come from behind and win in Marseille.
But talKSPORT pundit Jason Cundy has refused to give the north Londoners credit for their achievement, and even claimed the result merely papers over the cracks of manager Antonio Conte’s flawed system.
Spurs needed only a point to go through, but their first-half performance wouldn’t have given fans much confidence, even though they were missing a number of players through injury.
It was 1-0 to the hosts at half-time after Tottenham approached the game like they were playing the European elite, as they parked the bus and went into the break with just 31 per cent possession and only two shots on target.
They looked a different side after the break as Clement Lenglet pulled one back, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg then got the winner in the fifth minute of added-time to go through as group winners.
Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara demanded respect for Spurs and Conte after they came up trumps again, but Cundy wasn’t having it.
Cundy replied: “What’re you on about? It’s the worst side ever [of English teams in the Champions League].
“Honestly, you lot. It’s just prolonging the agony for you.
“Every game Conte goes into it not wanting to lose and it’s how he sets his team up… then all of a sudden they go 1-0 down and it’s like, ‘Oh OK, now we’re got to be a better team’, and then you see the better Spurs.
“It happened at Bournemouth too, but it takes 70 minutes for them to turn up. It’s almost like the best thing to happen for Spurs under Conte is you go 1-0 down and then you see a side and a formation and an ability from the manager - like, ‘Actually, we can attack well’.
“You should be qualifying for the last-16 anyway, but you’re grinding out results. Oh yes, well done.
“You’re riding your luck, can you not recognise that? It could be so different. Yes, you’ve won this game in stoppage-time, but there will be moments after games where you’ll be thinking, ‘If only we had been braver’.
“Don’t come to me crying when all of a sudden the results don’t come.”
However, talkSPORT host and Arsenal fan Laura Woods, incredibly, was more positive about Tottenham’s achievement.
“I actually wanted to pay credit to Spurs,” she said about her beloved Gunners' rivals.
“First of all, the atmosphere was incredible, I saw the scenes of Tottenham’s coach arriving and the fans with their red flares, it looked amazing and the atmosphere in the whole game was just wild.
“But I want to give them credit because they’re doing it without a number of their big players.
“Maybe it’s not pretty, maybe it’s a bit ugly sometimes, but you’re still managing to do with without Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, Cristian Romero, and Heung-min Son went off injured in this game and Conte was in the stands as well.”
After their bickering on Monday about their respective clubs, O'Hara might be happy to have an ally in the studio.
