Gary Neville responds to Cristiano Ronaldo criticism with funny question on Twitter after Manchester United striker insisted he is ‘not friends’ with former teammate

Gary Neville has made light of Cristiano Ronaldo's criticism by taking to Twitter and asking: 'Anyone for dinner?'
Ex-Manchester United defender Neville found himself in the firing line during Ronaldo's bombshell interview about the Red Devils.
The Portugal striker hit out at manager Erik ten Hag and the Glazers, who own the club, before insisting he is 'not friends' with former teammates Neville and Wayne Rooney.
Ronaldo said: “People can have their own opinion, but they don’t really know what’s going on. For example, inside the training ground and Carrington area or even my life – they should listen not only to one point of view, they have to listen to my point of view as well. Because it’s easy to criticise. But if you don’t know the whole story, it’s easy.
“It’s easy to criticise, I don’t know if you have a job in television that they must criticise to be more famous. I really don’t understand it.”
When asked if Neville had used his name to get attention, he responded: “I think they take advantage of that because they are not stupid.
“And I really understand that I have to carry on with my life, with criticism or when the people speak good about you, but it’s hard when you see people who was in the dressing room with you criticising that way. It is not good.”
And when asked if he counts Rooney and Neville among his pals, Ronaldo replied: “They are not my friends, they are colleagues. We play together, they’re not coming, we’re not ever having dinner together.”
On the morning after Ronaldo's comments emerged, Neville tweeted: "Anyone for dinner?"
Neville was critical of Ronaldo after the 37-year-old refused to come off the bench in the recent victory over Tottenham, arguing the striker must leave the club.
Ronaldo subsequently blanked his former teammate while greeting fellow Sky Sports pundits Louis Saha and Jamie Redknapp at Old Trafford.
Rooney, meanwhile, told talkSPORT last week Ronaldo risked becoming an unwanted distraction at the club and his behaviour was ‘unacceptable for Man United’.
