Everton’s problems deepen as Tom Davies sent home from Australia tour with injury while Yerry Mina faces another possible spell on the sidelines

Everton’s problems show no sign of letting up after Tom Davies and Yerry Mina both picked up injuries during their trip to Australia.

Midfielder Davies, flew back to Merseyside to undergo treatment on a knee problem picked up in training before Everton’s 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Celtic in the Sydney Super Cup.

During the clash against the Scottish champions, Mina came off at half-time with a hamstring complaint which will require a scan to reveal the extent of the injury.

The Colombian defender has endured a frustrating campaign so far having made just two appearances and only made his comeback earlier this month in Everton’s Carabao Cup defeat to Bournemouth.

To make matters worse for boss Frank Lampard, Abdoulaye Doucoure was also replaced at half-time having picked up a knock.

Lampard said in his post-match interview: "Yerry felt his hamstring a little bit, so we're going to have to scan that one.

"Doucs [Doucoure] had a bang just above the knee, but we're hopeful he may be OK for Wednesday [against Western Sydney Wanderers]."

An Everton statement read: "Midfielder Tom Davies has sustained a knee injury during a training session in Sydney and will leave Everton's tour of Australia to be assessed in the UK.

"The midfielder will undergo a scan to discover the full extent of the injury before being treated by club medical staff at Finch Farm."

Lampard will be hoping for a clean bill of health for the remainder of the Toffees’ tour down under.

Everton resume their Premier League campaign when struggling Wolves visit Goodison Park on Boxing Day.

The games then come thick and fast as Lampard takes his troops to Manchester City on New Years Eve before Brighton head to Merseyside three-days later.

They will join the likes of Andros Townsend (knee), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (shoulder) and James Garner (back) on the sidelines.
