England captain Harry Kane dismisses injury fears and insists he is ‘absolutely fine’ after images of ankle strapped up following World Cup draw with USA sparked concern – ‘There are no issues at all’

Harry Kane has declared he is 'absolutely fine' following the 0-0 draw against USA after images showing his right ankle strapped up sparked concern.

The England skipper played the full match of the stalemate on Friday, with the Three Lions having to wait to seal their progression into the World Cup knockout stages.

Tottenham striker Kane struggled to impose himself in the game, as he had just three touches in America's box, while he failed to create a single chance.

There was concern leading up to the USA match that he wasn't fully fit after being spotted limping with his ankle strapped up following the 6-2 win over Iran.

It led the 29-year-old to have a scan, but no damage was found, resulting in him leading the line against USA.

After the goalless draw, Kane was again pictured with his ankle bandaged up, but he has played down any worries that he may miss Tuesday's crunch clash with Wales.

Speaking to talkSPORT's England correspondent Faye Carruthers, Kane said: "It’s my foot and it was absolutely fine out there.

“I know there’s been a lot of talk and people saying it was my ankle but it was my foot.

“There are no issues at all. It was good to play the full game and I’ll get ready for Tuesday now.”

Victory against USA would have sealed England's progression into the Round of 16.

But they will qualify for the knockouts if they avoid defeat to Wales on Tuesday by a four-goal margin.

Gareth Southgate's side currently sit top of Group B after two matches - a point above Iran.

Despite England's poor performance against USA, Kane stated that it was a good result after keeping America at bay.

He remarked: "We knew before we wanted to win the game and finish top, but we also knew it was going to be a really tough night.

"And the USA posed us some problems for sure, but overall we probably wasn't clinical enough in their final third.

"But a really important clean sheet, a point puts us in a really good position going into Tuesday and that's the most important thing."
