What is England’s penalty record? Three Lions set for Euro 2024 final after perfect shootout against Switzerland

England have reached the Euro 2024 final after showing that they can deal with the pressure of a penalty shootout on the way.
The Three Lions beat the Netherlands to reach the showpiece, but they only made it through to face the Dutch thanks to spot-kicks.
Gareth Southgate's side beat Switzerland on penalties, scoring every single one of them to remain in the tournament in Germany.
They showed resilience to save themselves in normal time and then great composure to be flawless from the spot.
They have now been involved in penalty shootouts in each of their last four knockout tournaments - the 2018 World Cup, the 2019 Nations League, the Euro 2020 final and now Euro 2024.
That experience will prove to be valuable in Berlin on Sunday night if their showpiece clash with Spain ends up going all the way.
So ahead of the final, marvelbet369.com has taken a look at England's all-time penalty record...
The England men’s national team have been involved in 11 penalty shootouts in major tournaments and have won just four!
That includes four in World Cups, six in European Championships and one in the Nations League.
The Three Lions lost their first-ever shootout - against West Germany in the 1990 World Cup semi-final with Paul Gascoigne's famous tears.

Six years on, England won on penalties in front of their own fans to beat Spain during the Euros, only to lose four days later against Germany in the semi-finals again.
That defeat kick-started a run of five successive shootout losses for England including against Argentina in 1998, Portugal in 2004 and 2006, and then Italy in 2012.
It's been kinder reading since Southgate took charge, having overseen a first-ever World Cup penalty shootout win in 2018 over Colombia.
England followed that up by overcoming Switzerland to secure a bronze medal in the 2019 Nations League third-place play-off.
But then the following shootout ended in defeat, with the Three Lions painfully coming up short to Italy in the Euro 2020 final.
Missing the decisive penalty in that game was Bukayo Saka, but at Euro 2024 he has come full circle.
Saka scored from the spot as England matched what they did in 2019 and beat Switzerland on spot-kicks.
Now, they are set for another Euros final, and if it does go to penalties again, their confidence will be high despite a worrying past record.
