Man United’s Toni Kroos transfer back-ups – six targets on a shortlist to avoid Fabregas repeat

Despite the very real interest from David Moyes, it would not be a total surprise if it turned out if the brilliant Toni Kroos does not end up at Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old midfielder is reportedly at odds with his current employers over a new contract, sparking rumours he will leave the Bayern.

Man United have been heavily linked with a transfer, but Kroos could well be using their interest to help drive a better deal with the German club.

Moyes must be wary of having a similar situation to last summer, when the futile pursuit of Cesc Fabregas, following Thiago Alcantara's move to Bayern, led to an embarrassing last minute scramble to bolster his midfield options, yielding only an overpriced Marouane Fellaini.

If the move for Kroos falls through, United must have alternatives lined up, and the six midfielders you will see in the gallery above would certainly be worth a punt.
