Manchester United eye January loan swoop for Chelsea flop Alvaro Morata to replace Cristiano Ronaldo after missing out on Cody Gakpo to Liverpool
Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata is reportedly being eyed up by Manchester United ahead of a possible January loan swoop.
The Red Devils are in the market for a new centre-forward after Cristiano Ronaldo's contract was terminated by mutual consent.
Dutch forward Cody Gakpo was believed to be a serious target, but the PSV star's proposed move to Old Trafford has been hijacked by rivals Liverpool.
It is believed that due to the Glazer family's intentions to sell United, the club are only considering temporary deals in the New Year.
United are claimed to be keen on Atletico forward Joao Felix, but know they face competition from Chelsea in the race to secure his services.
His £8million loan fee meanwhile is proving to be 'prohibitive' for United, understands.
And according to , United could look instead to bring in his teammate Morata.
They state that the Chelsea flop is an option for United if the Wanda Metropolitano outfit are willing to listen to loan offers.

Morata is in good form having netted three goals for Spain at the World Cup in Qatar.
Though the 30-year-old, who scored just 24 times in 72 matches for the Blues, has just five goals from 14 LaLiga games this term.
ESPN have also stated that Ten Hag has been left 'frustrated' by United for failing to snap up his compatriot Gakpo.
Ten Hag was quizzed over Gakpo following United's 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.
To which he said: "I’m not looking at other teams, I am looking at our team.
”I am convinced of the squad we have, the players in our team, they have the capabilities, individual and as a team to compete with all of those teams.”
Before adding: "I don’t talk about individual cases. We are looking for offensive players, we are looking for a striker.
"Would be good because with the games coming, so many, every third day, and it’s tough.
“We want to play in all the leagues we are in and stay in those leagues.
"Hopefully it can keep going until the end of the season. You need numbers to cope with it all.”
