Chelsea are reluctant to lose Gallagher and Loftus-Cheek, however they could allow Ziyech to leave the club due to his current standing within Graham Potter's squad.

The Blues are also under pressure to cut two non-homegrown players from their Champions League squad following the arrivals of Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix and Benoit Badiashile this month.

Newcastle are prioritising the addition of a new central midfielder with Gallagher and Loftus-Cheek both potential options due to their role on the peripheral of Potter's plans.

Newcastle have also expressed an interest in Scott McTominay of Manchester United, while Wolves star Ruben Neves has also been discussed.

For the Magpies, the focus is on ensuring that they finish the season in the same way that they started it.

Eddie Howe's side are currently third in the Premier League with 38 points from 19 games so far.

Currently five points clear of fifth spot, Newcastle will be hoping that they can qualify for next season's Champions League, while also hoping that they are able to go all the way in the Carabao Cup after reaching the semi-finals.

With one or two new signings on board, Newcastle could be well-equipped for a strong second half of the campaign.
