Noni Madueke: Chelsea complete sixth January signing as England Under-21 star arrives in £30m deal to take January spending to £190m

Chelsea have completed the signing of England Under-21 winger Noni Madueke for a fee of around £30million.

The Blues have made the 20-year-old their sixth signing of the January transfer window after agreeing a deal with PSV Eindhoven.

Madueke has signed a seven-and-a-half-year contract.

"I like to get the ball and be exciting, take players on. Beat players, create a lot and score," the 20-year-old Londoner said.

"Best league in the world, best teams, best players. I'm absolutely buzzing to be a Blue."

London-born Madueke has long been regarded as one of the top talents across Europe and started off his career at the academies of Crystal Palace and Tottenham.

He leaves PSV after four-and-a-half-years at the Dutch club, where he scored 21 goals in 77 appearances.

Graham Potter has had a torrid time at Stamford Bridge in recent weeks but new owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have backed the English coach heavily.

Madueke is sixth arrival at the club this month after Mykhailo Mudryk, Andrey Santos, Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana and Joao Felix.

The deal takes Chelsea's spending this month to £190m, adding to the £270m spent in the summer - to make it £460m in outlays since the new ownership arrived.

Madueke was not signed in time to feature against Liverpool on Saturday.

But another big January arrival is set to play, with Chelsea boss Potter planning to give £85m man Mudryk his debut.

"Yeah, there's a chance (he will feature)," said Potter of the Ukrainian winger. "It's how much he can do. I think 90 minutes, no. There's probably a role for him at some stage in the game.

"He's a young player, exciting player, fantastic speed one v one, can attack the backline and now we've just got to help him adapt to the Premier League, adapt to us.

"He's obviously come from a mid-season break, so hasn't played so much football recently but has been training well. We'll assess him and see how much he can play at the weekend."
