Gordon and Schar became embroiled in an explosive fracas during Everton’s 1-0 defeat at St James’ Park last October.

During the high-octane clash, Gordon squared up to Kieran Trippier after being on the receiving end of a strong tackle from the Magpies’ skipper.

But Schar wasn’t having any of it and intervened by charging over to Gordon in support of his teammate.

The scuffle became heated and the pair had to be separated.

But Schar hit back with a tongue-in-cheek remark, telling Gordon 'You’ll have to deserve it first' before smiling back at the former Everton man.

Schar’s remark prompted a nervous giggle from Gordon who appeared ready to move on from the incident.

It remains to be seen whether Schar opts to plant a ‘welcome to Newcastle’ challenge on him in training as has long been the case in football among new signings.

After signing for Eddie Howe’s high-flyers, Gordon has revealed he was ‘convinced’ Newcastle was the right club for him.

"Since I heard of the interest, I was always convinced Newcastle were for me," Gordon told NUFC TV.

"I think the fan base and the city really suits me as a person, the way the team are playing under the gaffer at the minute really suits me, and the club just look like they're heading in the right direction.

"I feel like it's a really big step. I think under the gaffer, and the way the club's going, I can really excel here."
