Hakim Ziyech’s move from Chelsea to Paris Saint-Germain appears to be OFF with deadline day documents not registered in time

Hakim Ziyech’s proposed deadline day move from Chelsea to Paris Saint-Germain appeared to have collapsed late on.

The Moroccan winger was all set to depart Stamford Bridge, having agreed to join the French giants on loan for the remainder of the season.

Chelsea had sanctioned the move and Ziyech flew to Paris on Tuesday to finalise terms ahead of the deadline.

However, as first revealed by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, documentation was not sent to the French authorities in time - with PSG understood to put the blame at Chelsea's door.

Both clubs have been working to find a solution, to enable Ziyech to link up with fellow countryman Achraf Hakimi in Paris, but as it stands the player will have to return to Chelsea.

Ziyech was in high demand after some excellent performances in Morocco’s run to the World Cup semi-finals, with suitors in Germany, England and Italy.

The 29-year-old set piece specialist joined the Blues in 2020 from Ajax for £33million.

A Champions League winner with the club, Ziyech’s minutes have dwindled this season, with 13 appearances to his name, which has seen him score a goal and an assist.

Graham Potter’s squad is now stacked when it comes to competition on the wings, with Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke arriving in January from Shakhtar Donetsk and PSV Eindhoven respectively.

The Blues have spent more than £550million since last summer and smashed the British transfer recprd late on deadline day to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for £106.8m.
