Cardiff City 0-2 Leeds United: Garry Monk’s side record back-to-back wins as former Swansea man Pablo Hernandez sinks Bluebirds

Pablo Hernandez netted his first Leeds goal to seal Garry Monk's side a vital 2-0 victory at Cardiff in the Championship.

Pressure has reportedly been growing on the former Swansea boss at Elland Road, under trigger-happy owner Massimo Cellino, and a successive victory will come as a welcome relief in West Yorkshire.

The club bounced back from the derby defeat to Huddersfield by beating Blackburn in midweek and they have made it back-to-back wins now thanks to a superb strike from the Spanish midfielder.

Wood opened the scoring from the spot, netting his fourth goal in six games, after defender Pontus Jansson was fouled in the box. 

Then, with less than ten minutes on the clock, loan midfielder Hernandez produced a classy finish to beat Ben Amos. On the edge of the box, the 32-year-old intelligently curled the ball around his marker and out of the reach of the former Manchester United goalkeeper.

Monk will be pleased to get the win, especially against his former club's biggest rivals, as the Bluebirds' winless run extends to five.

The three points moves Leeds towards the heady heights of mid-table after a fraught start to the season, Monk now having won four of his past six games in all competitions.

Cardiff's campaign, however, is showing little sign of flickering into life with only one victory all season and manager Paul Trollope struggling to cope with the expectations at a club who were in the Premier League three seasons ago.
