‘Progressing really well’ – Mikel Arteta provides positive update on injury returns for Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the fitness of Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus.
The Gunners travel to Leicester City on Saturday in another important game in their bid to win the Premier League title and there is positive news.
Partey has missed the last few games with a back problem and has been a big absence since their FA Cup game defeat to Manchester City last month.
Jesus, meanwhile, injured his knee during the World Cup with Brazil and was set to miss out on up to three months of action.
However, in his press conference, Arteta provided positive updates on both players.
The Spanish boss said: “Not a lot of changes. There was a question mark on Thomas, he hasn’t trained much, but looks like he could be available so let’s see how he trains today. He’s a really important player for us that we missed in the last few games so hopefully he can be available.
On Jesus, he said: “He’s progressing really well. He’s doing more and more on the field and he’s reacting really well.
“We want to have him on the field as quickly as possible while also respecting the time frame we got from the doctors and specialists but he’s really pushing the boundaries right now.”
Both players have been crucial to Arsenal’s title push thus far in this campaign and their injuries have affected their form.
Partey’s absence resulted in dropped points against sides like Everton, Brentford and Manchester City as it was evident they missed his presence.
As for Jesus, while Nketiah has deputised well, having the Brazilian’s quality is vital to the Arsenal squad given their lack of depth at centre-forward.
The news will be welcome for the Gunners as the fixtures come thick and fast having been drawn against Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League, alongside their Premier League endeavours.
