Graham Potter retains the backing of the Chelsea board despite the club's dismal run, talkSPORT understands.

Blues owner Todd Boehly is determined to keep faith with Potter, although going out of the Champions League to Borussia Dortmund next week could test that resolve.

Potter is coming under increasing fire from Chelsea fans after winning just two of his last 15 games.

There are also concerns among senior players that the former Brighton coach's constant tinkering with his line-up is hampering their attempts to turn things around.

The club have spent in excess of £600million in transfers since Boehly became owner, with £323m of that in January to back the 47-year-old.

Results have gone backwards and have just one solitary win in 2023, and have scored just one goal in their last six games.

They are 10th in the Premier League and closer to Southampton in last place than Tottenham in fourth.

When asked after their most recent defeat to Tottenham on Sunday whether he has the backing of Boehly, he said: “Well, there’s always that question, absolutely. And you can’t stop the questions. And while the results are like they are, I accept them – it’s part of the job.

“We were talking before the game about watching All or Nothing and Arsenal, two years into Mikel’s reign he’s close to getting the sack and people are wanting him out and it’s a disaster. And now things have changed a little bit – and that’s just the way it is.

“If you look at Jurgen’s situation – they haven’t got results and all of a sudden people want him out, that’s just the nature of football.

“Obviously, I haven’t done enough at this club to have too much good faith, and I also accept that.

“My job is not to worry too much about that, to understand the question and where it comes from, totally, and to focus on keep helping the team and keep supporting the players, because I really like these players.

“They’re good lads and they want to win, but at the moment we’re suffering – and that’s my responsibility.”
