Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has cut Ryan Fraser from the first-team, and talkSPORT host Simon Jordan jumped at the chance to say 'I was right'.

The Scotland international has been sent to train with the Magpies' Under-21s side, with Howe giving a scathing review of his future at the club.

He said: "Ryan is training with the Under-21s. I made the decision to concentrate on the players that are committed to Newcastle.

"Life and football can change very quickly but, at the moment, no he doesn't [have a future at the club]."

The matter was brought up on talkSPORT's White and Jordan show, where host Jordan once remarked that Fraser was a 'wretched individual' and a 'turd' for refusing to play at Bournemouth.

Howe and Fraser have history at the Vitality Stadium where the winger refused to sign a short-term contract to play the remainder of the COVID-delayed 2019/20 campaign, with the club locked in a relegation battle.

He was instead intent on leaving, eventually joining Newcastle after the Cherries were relegated from the Premier League, with the winger then inadvertently reunited with his old coach at St James' Park.

Jordan said in 2020: "I look at this guy’s character and I think: ‘You’re a turd’.

“If I’m Newcastle, I’m looking at this wretched individual thinking: ‘When it came to adversity you didn’t want to stand up’."

And the talkSPORT host did not hold back on Friday, either, saying: “It’s funny how things come around, isn’t it? At the end of the day everything equalises out and you get to find out what people really are about.

“I made some very strong and not the most eloquent comments about Ryan Fraser, I wasn’t the most complimentary, but I was right about him.

“I think he’s one of those players you simply do not want in your dressing room if you want to achieve anything meaningful.

“Ryan Fraser didn’t fancy staying at Bournemouth because it was in that COVID season there were challenges about contract extensions and people playing after their June 30th contract dates, and he didn’t want any of it.

“I called him a rather unfortunate name, but I retain the right to remain in that perspective, because I think he’s shown his true colours and Eddie Howe has served him up."

Fraser had only started three Premier League matches this season and had not played for Newcastle since a 1-0 win over Everton in October.

The former Aberdeen star still has two years left on his contract but it remains to be seen what will happen in the summer over whether he leaves or stays at St. James' Park.

In January, he was linked with a move away from Tyneside but ended up remaining and has slipped down the pecking order with the arrival of Anthony Gordon.

Jordan added: “He’s let Eddie Howe down before, and I don’t think he thinks Ryan Fraser is particularly relevant anymore.

“He’s got a decent group of players he can turn to, and Ryan Fraser is way down the pecking order.

"There’s a new sheriff in town and the manager is in complete control of the player’s destiny, and he has said: ‘You’re done’.

“He’s a good player, by the way… but he’s reaped what he sowed.

"And it’s quite nice to see it every now again, because most often you don't see people getting their comeuppance.”
