So, after months of talk about the next England boss in July, another managerial search is on for the national team.

Sam Allardyce left his post as Three Lions manager after just 67 days on Tuesday, following a newspaper sting which saw the 61-year-old make a whole host of controversial remarks including expressing his views on the outlawed practice of third-party ownership, suggesting there was a way to 'get around it'.

The former Sunderland, Bolton and West Ham chief took charge of just one match - a 1-0 2018 World Cup qualifying win in Slovakia - and he was set to oversee his first game at Wembley in October, against Malta.

Former Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate, now in charge of the national side's Under-21s, will oversee the next four games in a caretaker capacity - the qualifiers with Malta, Slovenia and Scotland, along with a home friendly with Spain.

Having shelled out compensation to release Allardyce from his Sunderland contract only two months ago, the FA could be more reluctant to pay out once again.

Ambitious names suggested for the hotseat include Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson, but at talkSPORT we like to be a little more realistic.

So who should get the job? We have taken a look at who is the most suitable and realistic man for the country's top football job. Click the right arrow, above, to see the top candidates, from least to most suited.
