Graham Potter has rejected an approach from Leicester, talkSPORT understands.

Potter, who lost his job as Chelsea boss over the weekend, is set to take a break from the game.

Leicester are on the lookout for a new manager having parted company with Brendan Rodgers after their defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Foxes are long-time admirers of former Brighton boss Potter and reached out to his representatives, but the 47-year-old has decided against making a swift return.

Potter left the Seagulls to take the Chelsea job in September, succeeding Thomas Tuchel, who was dismissed by Blues co-owner Todd Boehly.

The Englishman made a positive start to life at Stamford Bridge, winning five of his first six and going unbeaten in his opening nine matches in charge.

However, bad results began to set in as Chelsea regressed down the Premier League table while also suffering disappointing exits to Manchester City in both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Potter's final match in charge of the club was a 2-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa, a result that leaves Chelsea 11th in the Premier League.

Bruno Saltor will take charge of the team as interim head coach with Chelsea’s next outing seeing them entertain Liverpool on Tuesday night, live on talkSPORT.

And he was very sad to see Potter go: "It's been really difficult, at every single level, especially emotionally.

"You have to do the press conference, you have to deal with the players - it's hard.

"My relationship with Graham and Billy, and how it affects families - it's difficult to deal with that.

"It's a sad day for the staff because Graham and Billy are two top coaches and top human beings."

Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann and ex-Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino are in contention to become Potter's permanent replacement.

Luis Enrique, who has managed Barcelona and the Spain national team, is also on Boehly's shortlist and he has been contacted along with Nagelsmann.

Managerless Leicester, meanwhile, are in a very precarious situation with their defeat at Selhurst Park leaving them in the relegation zone.

Tottenham are also looking for a permanent manager and despite also being linked with Nagelsmann and Pochettino, talkSPORT's Darren Ambrose suggested they could take advantage of Leicester and Rodgers cutting ties.

“I am going to say now I would take him at Spurs 100 per cent,” Spurs fan Ambrose said.

“Of course [Julian] Nagelsmann would be my first choice, I’m sure he would be for a lot of fans.

“But Brendan Rodgers plays the type of football and the style that Spurs supporters like.

“The job he did at Leicester was remarkable. Maybe it is time for a new voice at Leicester, but bring [James] Maddison along to Spurs with you and they’ll be absolutely flying.”
