Unfortunately his time in north London hasn't gone as planned with his displays attracting criticism from certain sections of the Spurs fanbase.

Those critics were in full voice after the weekend's clash with Bournemouth, a match that saw Tottenham beaten 3-2 on home turf.

Porro made a key error in that game as he was dispossessed in the build-up to Matias Vina's opening goal, a mistake that set Spurs on their way to a difficult afternoon.

The entire Tottenham team were booed off the pitch at full-time, with Porro deactivating both his Instagram and Twitter accounts in the aftermath of the defeat.

Now that the dust has settled on the defeat, the 23-year-old is back on those social media accounts and had a message of self-reflection for his followers.

He wrote: "You never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have left.

"Thanks for the messages of love."

Tottenham's fixtures don't get any easier as they travel to take on Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

With Spurs sitting in fifth position in the table, this could be a pivotal fixture in their aspirations of ending the season with Champions League football to look forward to next term.
