Trent Alexander-Arnold has 'found his role' after playing as an inverted full-back in Liverpool's thumping of Leeds.

The Reds star has endured mixed fortunes this term having failed to find the sort of form that has seen him become one of the Premier League's most dangerous attacking forces in recent years.

A defender by trade, the 24-year-old is arguably better known for his attacking contributions due to his pinpoint delivery from crosses and passes, along with his ability to find the net himself with his fierce free-kicks and long-range efforts.

But with the defensive side of his game being questioned, it's led many to doubt Alexander-Arnold's ability at the very highest level.

However, the England international enjoyed a brilliant game during the 6-1 victory over Leeds on Monday night, providing two assists and wreaking havoc in wide areas. And Bent believes this role is where Alexander-Arnold is at his best.

Speaking to Andy Goldstein on talkSPORT Drive, Bent said: “That’s his role.

“He’s the inverted full-back and because of his technique and ability on the ball, he could probably play that role better than any full-back in the league.

“That inverted full-back role, [Oleksandr] Zinchenko is unbelievable at it in terms of dropping in – Trent has got better technique than Zinchenko, his range of passing.

“If you can get the best out of Trent playing in that position, oh my goodness.”

Discussing Liverpool's form, he added: "It must be frustrating but they’ve been so consistent for the last four or five years. This little blip that they’ve been having, they’ll be back next year for sure.”

Asked if they can get top four, Bent said: “No, I don’t think so.”
