It is almost exactly a year since Sir Alex Ferguson anointed David Moyes as his successor, a decision that well and truly backfired as the former Everton boss was unceremoniously sacked from the Old Trafford hotseat.

According to reports Fergie is set to play a role in naming the next man to try and fill his sizable shoes, with Netherlands’ national boss Louis van Gaal the favourite to land the job.
