Former Tottenham Hotspur star Jamie O'Hara has given an impassioned rant about Daniel Levy's ownership of the club as their freefall continues.

Once battling for the top four, and qualification for the Champions League, they are now at risk of failing to make any of the three European competitions after a woeful 3-1 defeat to Brentford saw them drop to eighth in the Premier League table.

After witnessing a shocking second half display which saw Spurs concede three unanswerd goals, the club's fans were quick to harangue chairman Daniel Levy.

Supporters sang 'get out of our club' while also releasing black balloons with 'Levy Out' on them.

And in a discussion with Tottenham fan Brian, O'Hara made his feelings clear on the situation, praising Levy's work growing the club but insisting now is the time for change in north London.

Replying to the caller, who urged caution, the ex-Spurs man said: "You say be careful what you wish for but we're not going to get taken over by a bunch of numpties, are we?

"It's a £1billion football club. So the people who are going to buy the football club, who are interested in the football club are going to know what they're doing. They're going to put more cash into it.

"What people are sick of is that we've got this new beautiful football stadium, it's unbelievable, but look at the football team that are playing in it. They are awful.

"People are sick and tired of having to go and watch and pay an awful lot of money to sit in this beautiful stadium and the players that are playing in it aren't good enough to put a Tottenham shirt on."

When Brian queried if the club would attract buyers, O'Hara retorted: "If Tottenham went up for sale properly and Joe Lewis did come out say 'we're going to sell the football club' then there would be a lot of billionaires who would want to buy it.

"You've got concerts there, you've got Formula 1 there, you've got NFL matches there - it's one of the most sought after stadiums in the world."

With a manager due to be appointed in the near future to finally replace Antonio Conte, O'Hara added: "It doesn't matter who you appoint [as manager] if the mentality of the football club is just to make business opportunities instead of football ones.

"He sacked [Jose Mourinho] the only manager who could have won a trophy for us the week before the [League] Cup final - what does that say about the mentality of Daniel Levy?

"It gets to the point where you're just sick and tired of it. Look, I'm losing my head a bit here. I'm not getting away from Daniel Levy being a fantastic businessman, he's a brilliant one with what he's created, amazing. He's taken Tottenham to another level in that sense.

"But in terms of football, and the way he runs the football club on the football side of it - it is shambolic. You have a multi-billion pound company with this unreal stadium and you give [the manager's job] to a [former] player who is nowhere near good enough to be a manager of Tottenham football club. It's ajoke.

"They are unacceptable mistakes. That's where the argument is. He brought in a sporting director who is now banned for three years. The mistakes are unforgiveable. It gets to a point where it just becomes a complete joke. You can't run a football club like this. You can run a business he does because he's brilliant but you cannot run a football club like this. Get in someone who knows what he's doing.

"If you don't know what you're doing, Daniel Levy, step aside and bring someone in who knows how to run the football club for football - not for Beyonce tickets."
