Mac Allister became Liverpool's main midfield target after they opted to pursue an alternative to Jude Bellingham and the deal is expected to be around £55m.

Since arriving from Argentinos Juniors in 2019, Mac Allister played 112 games for Brighton, scoring 20 times and assisting nine goals in that time, while he also won the World Cup in December.

Despite only signing a new deal in October, a clause was inserted into his deal that made negotiations with the Reds much smoother. He will now be available to Klopp when his team gather for pre-season training in July.

The 24-year-old played a pivotal role in helping Brighton to qualify for Europe for the first time in their history after finishing sixth in the Premier League.

Discussing Mac Allister's future along with his in-demand teammates Moises Caicedo, Roberto De Zerbi said: "I think it can be the last game for Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo.

"It is right that they can leave, they can play at a higher level.”
