The 35-year-old made a tearful exit from the Catalan club in 2021 as they did not have the funds to keep him at the club.

He left the club he had joined as a 13-year-old and had gone on to become their record goalscorer with 672 goals in 778 games.

Messi then spent the next two years at PSG, but had a tough relationship with the fan base.

He won back-to-back Ligue 1 titles, but was consistently booed and jeered by the supporters.

As well as Inter Miami and PSG, an offer from Saudi Arabia was also said to be on the table for the superstar forward.

However, David Beckham's MLS franchise appear to be the ones to win the race.
