I’m Italy’s Roy Keane and considered major Man City transfer because of Oasis and I wanted to meet Liam and Noel

"We see things they'll never see!" - That was the cry of many Manchester City fans amidst their monumental treble success.
The Oasis lyrics have become a symbol of City's achievements in recent seasons and are set to be sung for the foreseeable future, especially now the band are set for a monumental reunion.
One man likely to be in attendance is Roma legend Daniele De Rossi, whose love of Oasis was a factor in almost signing for City years ago.
Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher are lifelong City fans, with the latter making regular appearances on talkSPORT to talk about his beloved team and their influence is felt on matchdays with their hits heard around the Etihad.
They've seen the club sign the very best since winning the Abu Dhabi lottery and De Rossi was another to almost join. The midfielder spent 18 years at Roma, but in 2012 was linked with a £31million transfer and a £130,000-a-week contract to City
He ultimately rejected the transfer because, in his words 'I am a Roman', but his love of Oasis came into his thinking when mulling the move over.
De Rossi is considered one of the best midfielders of his generation. A box-to-box general, he has been likened to Steven Gerrard and Roy Keane, both of whom he admires greatly.
On Keane he : "I wear 16 because of him. He’s the only person in the world I’ve asked for a photo, two years ago. I was too embarrassed with Maradona but I couldn’t resist with him.”
Speaking to Roma's in 2016, he said why he thought about a move to the Etihad. "There was a lot of talk about me moving to Manchester City a few years ago, but I’ve never wanted to leave Rome.
"What excited me the most about that prospect, however, was the fact I could have met the Gallagher brothers.
"I grew up listening to them and I know all their songs off by heart," added the 2006 World Cup winner.
"I liked those guys, they were real characters. They weren’t always conventional or very easily approachable, but I really liked the stereotype they represented – rock stars off their head."
De Rossi did eventually leave Roma in 2019 and sealed a switch to Boca Juniors before announcing his retirement from the game a year later.
He won four trophies at club level, but could have added a lot more to list of accolades if he joined City more than a decade ago.
Since he was linked with a move, the Citizens have won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, six League Cups and now finally, the Champions League.
As treble winners, City's dominance in football has spread from England across to the continent.
De Rossi could have been amongst them, but as his musical heroes once said: "Feel no shame."
And now the iconic British band are set to end their feud and play a number of stadium gigs for a monumental return.
The brothers teased an announcement late on Sunday — when the band’s logo appeared on their social media with the date “27.08.24” flickering to read “8am”.
say dates are expected for Wembley and other UK spots, including Manchester, Scotland and Wales in addition to Ireland in 2025.
For years fans wanted to see them reform but that seemed like a long way away when in 2009 Noel said of their split: “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”
Now De Rossi and others can get the cagoules out because it appears there's definitely no maybe about it.
