Rice is expected to be a landmark signing for Mikel Arteta, who beat off competition from Manchester City to secure his no.1 transfer target, and a gigantic upgrade in midfield.

The deal is believed to be worth £100million with £5m in add-ons, a record for both sides, but just short of the £106.8m Premier League record Chelsea paid Benfica for Enzo Fernandez.

Gunners fans are understandably buzzing about the deal, but may be wondering why it’s still yet to be announced.

Well, according to , West Ham are waiting on Arsenal’s lawyers to approve the final wording of the deal.

They also claim that the club are hopeful of completing the transfer before the squad flies to the US for their pre-season tour on Sunday.

Arsenal are also expected to announce a deal for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber in the coming days, with the £38m-rated Dutch international hopeful of being available for a friendly against Nurnberg on Thursday.

But when it comes to Rice, it’s not just the fans that are excited, with a number of Arsenal players jumping on his latest training post, liking it in an instant.

Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka both left their mark on the images, and Rice’s previous Instagram post three weeks ago was with the young winger after his hat-trick for England.
